Apple CEO Tim Cook to Meet President-Elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago
Apple CEO Tim Cook is scheduled to meet with newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday night at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. This information was reported by Reuters, citing a source familiar with the matter.
Since Trump’s victory in the November presidential election, various business leaders have been taking steps to establish a positive relationship with him. Meta Platforms and Amazon have already donated $1 million each to Trump’s inaugural fund. Bank of America, the second-largest U.S. lender, is also planning to contribute to the fund, although the amount has not yet been disclosed.
During Trump’s election campaign in October, Tim Cook reportedly called him to express concerns over financial penalties imposed by the European Union. European regulators have been increasing investigations into major tech companies in recent years to regulate their market power and ensure fair opportunities for smaller competitors.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Apple, accusing the iPhone maker of illegally dominating the smartphone market.
The New York Times was the first to break the news about the upcoming meeting. Both Trump’s team and Apple have not provided immediate comments on the matter.
With Donald Trump set to take office in January, the meeting could offer insights into the future relationship between the technology industry and the Trump administration.
